Public Folders Off Line

I&IT technicians need to investigate an issue with the Exchange Public Folders.  The Public Folders function of Exchange is being taken off line and will not be available to users.  This outage will last until at least the remainder of today’s work shift.

All other functions of Exchange, including sending and receiving email, will continue to function as normal.

If you have any questions, contact the Cal Poly Pomona Help Desk during standard business hours.

Blackboard has been returned to service.  If users have any issues, they should contact the Cal Poly Pomona Help Desk during standard business hours.  During the summer, the Help Desk is open from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and closed on Fridays (plus state holidays) except for the week of July 29th, when the Help Desk will be open M-Th 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday (Aug. 2).
Blackboard’s regular quarterly maintenance, scheduled to conclude at 12 noon today, is continuing because of a technical issue.  I&IT technical staff members are addressing the issue and expect to have a resolution sometime this afternoon.

Access to Spring 2013 term data in Blackboard has been restored.
I&IT is aware of a problem with the Blackboard system blocking students from their Spring 2013 courses.  I&IT technicians are looking in to the problem and will update this site with additional information shortly.  We apologize for the inconvenience.

May 16th, 2013

As of 5pm on Thursday, May 16th, all student/public services have been restored or recovered. Some internal services, of a non-critical nature, remain unavailable at this time. Given the nature of the remaining systems, no further updates regarding this incident will be posted. I&IT will perform a post-incident analysis and review of our processes and procedures that will result in a formal report and recommendations that will be made available to the campus community.

Exchange Public Folders, Webwork (used by the Math Department), Campus Call Center, and eHelp Wiki have been added to green status.  The latest update is available from here:  http://www.csupomona.edu/~iit/updates/IIT_Systems_Status.pdf
As of 5pm today, most of the campus’ critical and most widely used systems have been restored and returned to a normal operational status.  This includes an alternative method for accessing the registration functions of BroncoDirect.  The BroncoDirect links on the campus’ home page have been updated to the new location and additional information is available in the PolyCentric article on How to Register for Classes through PeopleSoft.

Given the progress of the recovery, I&IT staff expect that most of the campus’ services will be recovered by the end of the week.  Additional cleanup of secondary and development systems will take a bit longer, but that work is also expected to be completed by the end of the month.

We appreciate your patience as we continue to restore services to the campus community.

During the recovery process, I&IT has been maintaining a system status log that provides service/server specific updates.  This report is now available online in addition to the general updates that are posted on this web site.  Please check the log for the status of specific services, as the log updates will not necessarily correspond to timing of update messages on CPP Alerts.
