Part replacement may affect phone service early morning on 12/2/11

Tomorrow morning (Friday, Dec.2) at 6:30 a.m., I&IT and its telephone vendor will be replacing a failed power supply in one our phone switch's cabinets.

The replacement MAY result in a reboot of the cabinet that would affect a portion of the land line phones in Buildings 5, 7, 34, 193, 31, 32, 30, 76, 78, 76A, 77, 79, 79B, 79A, 97, 24, 35, 25, 60, 61, 37, 38, 191, 41, 44, 43, 66, 128, 86, 55, 26, 26A, 150, 116, 4 and 4A; all of the Phase II residential suites; LOT K (191) and LOT B (123).

Should the cabinet reboot, the disruption will last 5 to 10 minutes.

Building 8 full connectivity restored

I&IT has replaced a module in the main building switch for Building 8, restoring full network onnectivity. I&IT will continue to monitor the switch to assure continued satisfactory performance.

BroncoDirect will be down Friday Nov. 25 Noon to 2:00 p.m.

Building 8 Network Connectivity Spotty

Part of a network switch that supports Building 8 (College of Science) has failed. It is being replaced. Eight ports are affected and other usres in the building may experience spotty connectivity for a few hours. I&IT is working to rectify the situation.

Wireless Internet Connectivity Restored

Reported Issue: At approximately 11:50 a.m., users reported not being able to access the Internet (external sites) using CPP (authenticated) wireless. (The Guest wireless network was not affected.)

Issue Status: Internet access via CPP wireless has been restored.

Wireless Connectivity to Internet Not Functioning

Reported Issue: At approximately 11:50 a.m., users reported not being able to access the Internet (external sites) using CPP (authenticated) wireless.

Note: Wireless users are able to access the Internet via the Guest wireless network.

Issue Status: Technical staff are currently investigating the affected locations.

Future Updates: The Cal Poly Pomona Help Desk will provide an update when Internet service is fully restored to CPP wireless.

BroncoDirect Now Functioning Normally

I&IT and CMS have fixed the connectivity issues with BroncoDirect. The service is functioning normally.

BroncoDirect is experiencing sporadic errors. I&IT and the CMS staff are working on correcting this issue. Users may experience periodic loss of connectivity while we work on the resolution.

Some group, department file share services down during 9/17/11 patch

The EMC network server that provides group and department file share services (CIFS) for the campus will be patched early the morning of Sept. 17, 2011, from 2:00 a.m. to 4 a.m. During this time period, access to these file shares hosted on \\files.win.csupomona.edu may become unavailable for a period of 10-15 minutes. This patch was postponed from the previous weekend (see post just below). User shares hosted on the ZFS servers (\\files.unx.csupomona.edu) are unaffected and not a part of this update.
